Since October, reportedly, 34,183 Palestinians have been killed due to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. The surviving Palestinians in Gaza are struggling to survive as over 77,143 wounded are injured, and many are starving, displaced, and lost homes, family, and friends.

Around 1 in every 25 Palestinians in Gaza are now injured or dead, Islamic Relief says as Israel’s bombardment continues unabated.

More people worldwide are becoming aware of this humanitarian crisis and hoping to do their part in making a difference. So, BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) is an entity that has helped identify brands that should be targeted in boycotts. The Palestinian BDS National Committee shared a list of brands to boycott, placing them in categories.

The BDS movement did not initiate these grassroots boycott campaigns but is in support of them due to these brands openly supporting Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.

One of these companies to boycott is Adidas. It has ties to Israel as Adidas uses Israeli manufacturer Delta Galil for some of its products.

Additionally, Adidas reportedly donated $150 million USD to the pro-Israel Anti-Defamation League (ADL) after it cut ties with Ye (the rapper formerly known as Kanye West) due to his antisemitic and more offensive statements via social media and interviews. While Adidas ended things with Ye in 2022, the shoe company’s donations made from Yeezy sales were reported earlier this year.

While the company has made donations to the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change, run by social justice advocate Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, Adidas has also made donations to the Anti-Defamation League(ADL), a pro-Israel non-profit organisation whose stated mission is to fight antisemitism.

When Adidas cut ties with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, due to his antisemitic comments, it was left with more than a billion dollars worth of high-end Yeezy sneakers. Now, Jewish Americans are evaluating the German company’s plan to give some of the proceeds from the sneakers’ sale to groups engaged in fighting antisemitism.” | AP Photo/Seth Wenig

Until 2018, Adidas sponsored Israel’s Football Association (IFA). BDS claimed this as a victory, stating, “Team justice scores. Adidas no longer sponsoring Israel Football Association.” Yet, an Adidas spokesperson claimed via i24NEWS that Adidas’ decision to end its sponsorship with the IFA was “not politically motivated.”

Adidas can confirm that the existing agreement [with IAF] was not extended beyond the agreed term.  Adidas wishes to thank Israel Football Association for its collaboration and wishes it much success.

Netizens have reminded the ATEEZ fandom about Adidas’ pro-Israel ties. So, ATINYs are joining the boycott despite ATEEZ’s advertisements, as they are alarmed by Adidas’ affiliation with Israel amidst the ongoing war against Palestine.
