A woman in the UK confessed to the police she killed and lived with the bodies of her parents for years — and bodycam footage captured the entire moment. It’s truly disturbing to watch, Perezcious readers…
According to Essex Police on Friday, 36-year-old Virginia McCullough was sentenced to 36 years in prison for the murder of her parents, John and Lois McCullough. The murders took place at some point in the summer of 2019. The police said post-mortem examinations revealed the two were poisoned with prescription medication. John died from poisoning, while Louis was struck with a hammer and fatally stabbed. Just terrible.

While Virgina killed her parents in 2019, it was not until September 2023 that police arrested her! Why? She apparently hid their bodies in their home in Pump Hill, Chelmsford, for five years! OMG! As for what led to her getting caught, here is the deal.
Essex Police revealed it all started when they were contacted in September 2023 by the Essex County Council’s safeguarding team. Cops were informed that John and Lois’ doctor became concerned for their welfare after “having not seen them for some time.” The physician explained John hadn’t collected medication or attended scheduled appointments. Virginia often canceled the appointments, using various excuses to explain why her dad didn’t go. She also consistently lied about their whereabouts in general, as she canceled family plans and told doctors and other relatives they were unwell, on holiday, or away on a long vacation.
From there, a missing persons investigation was launched. Police contacted Virginia about her parents, and she lied to them, claiming they were traveling and would not be back until October of that year. However, investigators were suspicious. So they then launched a murder investigation and searched the Pump Hill property, where she was now the sole occupant. What they learned next is shocking.
In bodycam footage released by police and posted by The Sun on Friday, Virginia matter-of-factly admits to murdering her parents while being placed under arrest! As law enforcement placed her handcuffs, she told them she would “cooperate” and asked if they could go inside so she could “tell them something.” Virginia added:
“I need to tell you something about what’s upstairs on the top floor as well.”
The officers agree before following into the home. When they reached one of the rooms, Virginia calmly confesses:
“My dad’s body is in there.”
Whoa. When asked about her mother, she replied that it is a “little bit more complicated.” Virginia explained Lois’ remains were upstairs in a wardrobe “behind the bed at the back next to a sink.” She then noted she “did know this would kind of come eventually” and felt “it’s proper that I serve my punishment.” Virginia added while cracking a smile:
“Cheer up, at least you caught the bad guy. I deserve to get whatever’s coming sentence-wise because that’s the right thing to do and that might give me a bit of peace.”
And there’s more. Virginia informed the officers her parents’ bank card was in a handbag, admitting she used it for “a lot of transactions” over “the last few years.” What a sick situation. The video then cuts to Virginia in custody, where she reveals the location of the knife she used to stab her mom. Getting emotional, she shared the “most grisly detail,” saying:
“So on the ground floor underneath the stairs, there’s a few like storage boxes and things. And in the middle, I think it’s in both boxes or in a bag or something … if you want me to shush after this, it’s fine, but every bit helps … it’s a hammer. Yeah, I know. I know but I’m trying to help so you find everything. … It will still have blood on it. It’s rusted but will still have traces on it.”
So chilling. Watch the bodycam footage (below):
Not only did Virginia murder her parents but authorities later found out she was abusing and manipulating her parents financially. Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby even called her an “intelligent manipulator,” telling Essex Police:
“Virginia McCullough murdered her parents in cold blood. Her actions were considered, meticulous and carried out in such a way as to conceal what she had done for as long as possible. These were the actions of someone who had taken time to plan and carry out the murder of her parents in the interest of self-preservation and personal gain, before living within meters of the bodies of her two victims for a number of years.”
He then accused of engaging in “vast levels of deceit, betrayal and fraud she engaged in,” adding:
“It was on a shocking and monumental scale. McCullough lied about almost every aspect of her life, maintaining a charade to deceive everyone close to her and clearly taking advantage of her parents’ good will. She is an intelligent manipulator who chose to kill her parents callously, without a thought for them or those who continue to suffer as a result of their loss. The details of this case shock and horrify even the most experienced of murder detectives, let alone any right-thinking member of the public.”
Nicola Rice, a Specialist Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, also slammed Virginia for “callously and viciously killed both of her parents before concealing their bodies in makeshift tombs.” Calling the case “truly disturbing,” she continued:
“She spent the next four years manipulating and lying to family members, medical staff, financial institutions, and the police, spending her parent’s money and accruing large debts in their name.”
