Are Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez no longer close — all because the Wizards of Waverly Place alum doesn’t want to hang out with her bestie’s squad??? That is what one source is suggesting!
Over the past few months, the 34-year-old pop star and the 32-year-old actress have not spent as much time together as they used to. In fact, they have not been spotted out together since they attended the Golden Globes in January. You know, the same award show when they got caught gossiping about Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet or Selena’s two pals “who hooked up!” LOLz!
We have seen Tay out with her other celebrity friends on several occasions even amid her hectic Eras Tour schedule – but it appears she has not hung out with Selena whatsoever since the Globes! The Calm Down artist didn’t even show up to Taylor’s party at her home in Rhode Island in August! So what is going on between them? Did their friendship hit a rough patch?
According to a source for Dailymail.com on Saturday, the reason we have not seen Taylor and Selena together in a while is because the Rare Beauty founder feels like an “outsider” in the friendship group! What’s more, she reportedly doesn’t want to be around Tay’s other pals like Blake Lively or Brittany Mahomes! The insider claimed:
“Selena feels like she has matured out of Taylor’s circle of friends. She has no desire to be out with Blake, or Ice Spice, or Brittany or really any of those girls. In a lot of ways, she feels like an outsider now. She is not a cheerleader and never wanted to be.”

Hmm. Well, Selena may not have to be around Brittany. Patrick Mahomes’ wife is potentially on the outs with Taylor over her endorsement of Donald Trump…
Another reason for the alleged distance? Their relationships. As you know, Selena is dating Benny Blanco while Taylor has been involved with Travis Kelce. The insider said:
“They are each focused on their careers and their relationships. Ultimately, they are both happy for each other that they are both in love at the same time.”
However, don’t expect any double dates! Selena and Taylor aren’t arranging that anytime soon:
“They know that double dates are out of the questions because their men would literally have nothing at all to talk about.”
Yeesh!
Just to note, take the report with a grain of salt. Neither Selena nor Taylor have addressed the distance between them! And to be honest, we are very skeptical the reason Taylor and Selena have not hung out is because the actress doesn’t want to be around the Grammy winner’s other pals – or that their boyfriends won’t like each other! Is there a chance Selena does not want to interact with the other squad members? Sure! However, we just don’t see that coming between them! Not after over a decade of friendship!
They most likely are just busy! Something that happens when the pair are both killing it in their careers! Taylor has been touring for most of the year! And when she was not performing, she tried to spend quality time with Travis, especially before he started the NFL season. Meanwhile, Selena has been working on Only Murders in the Building, Rare Beauty, and other projects while also making time for her own beau!
So don’t worry Swifties and Selenators! Taylor and Selena’s friendship is not on its way to being over — despite how the first source makes it seem! Even a second source for the outlet pointed out that the two have very hectic schedules right now:
“Life, in a good way, is the reason Taylor and Selena don’t hang out often anymore. Taylor is on the biggest tour ever and trying to juggle that with seeing Travis. Selena is busy with Only Murders in the Building and her relationship with Benny. There just aren’t enough hours in the day for them to get in a hang.”
Despite the lack of hangout sessions, their friendship hasn’t suffered! The insider insisted:
“It is one of those friendships where, if they were in the same room, no matter how much time has passed, they would pick up right off where they left off. They will likely see each other in the future at awards shows or if they happen to be in the same city and maybe catch a dinner.”
A third source added that Taylor and Selena “talk all of the time, but they just haven’t been in the same city at the same time for a while.” Phew! So, it sounds like there is no need to panic anyone! Tay and Selly are fine!
