Ryu Seung Soo, Jang Hye Jin, Min Kyung Ah, And More Add Depth and Tension In New Drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born”

tvN’s upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has revealed more stills featuring its veteran supporting cast members!

Based on a popular webtoon, the upcoming drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid a difficult era for the nation.

The latest stills feature Ryu Seung Soo, Jang Hye Jin, and Min Kyung Ah, along with special appearances by Kim Tae Hoon and Lee Mi Do.

Ryu Seung Soo is shown wearing glasses, a muted turtleneck, and a jacket, embodying the 1950s aesthetic. He will portray Go Dae Il, the manager of the theater’s accounting department, who harbors ulterior motives.

Meanwhile, Jang Hye Jin plays Han Gi Joo, the mother of Heo Yeong Seo (Shin Ye Eun) and a renowned soprano with a strong ego who despises losing. She explicitly favors her eldest daughter Heo Yeung In (Min Kyung Ah), leaving Yeong Seo feeling neglected and craving external validation.

Min Kyung Ah takes on the role of Heo Yeong In, a talented soprano known for her cheerful personality. Despite her bright exterior, she struggles under her mother’s demanding expectations. One image captures her with outstretched arms while singing on stage, raising anticipation about her performances and personal story.

Additionally, Kim Tae Hoon and Lee Mi Do will appear as Park Jong Guk and Patricia Kim, respectively. Park Jong Guk is an ambitious broadcast producer determined to make Jeong Nyeon a star after hearing her sing, while Patricia Kim, a former famous singer, helps Jeong Nyeon to make her debut as a singer.

“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” is set to premiere on October 12 at 9:20 KST.
