MAMA AWARDS Prepares to Head Stateside for the First Time
CJ ENM announced today that the annual MAMA AWARDS for this year will kick off in the U.S. for the first time. Dubbed the world’s No.1 K-Pop awards, the 2024 MAMA AWARDS will begin on November 21st in Los Angeles’ historic Dolby Theatre, before heading to Japan on the 22nd and 23rd to wrap up in Osaka’s KYOCERA DOME.
Aiming to connect global K-Pop fans across the world and through various time zones, this will be the first time the award show will take place so far from South Korea. To present awards and have performances across the ocean at the beginning of the show is yet another significant step towards broadening the genre’s reach.
The MAMA AWARDS have been an annual event for the past 25 years, and have taken place across Asia in Macao, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Japan. First launched in 1999 as Korea’s first music video ceremony by CJ ENM’s music channel Mnet, the award show is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the artistry and the power of music to connect people as one.
This year’s MAMA AWARDS will center around the concept of “Big Blur = WHAT IS REAL?,” spotlighting the blurred boundaries between industries, culture, music genres, and technology. The ceremony will feature surreal but real experiences, and will showcase visually captivating performances through the convergence of art and technology.
2024 MAMA AWARDS will still be broadcast worldwide via global digital channels. More details are coming soon.
