With the successful rise of the Hallyu wave, Seoul has become a top vacation getaway for many travelers. Whether they wish to go cafe hopping, visit hot K-Drama spots, or simply walk along the same road of their bias, there’s many things to do in the capital city. But Korea is a big country that’s filled to the brim with exciting hot spots, waiting to be discovered.
One option travelers could always choose is to head down south — not towards Busan or Jeju Island, but to the vibrant city of Yeosu. Ever since the release of ‘Yeosu Night Sea’ by Busker Busker all those years ago, the tourism industry has picked up significantly for Yeosu and continues to see promise even today.
Now, here’s some things you can do while visiting the wonderful city of Yeosu.
Yeosu Maritime Cable Car
While this might require some courage, riding Yeosu’s Maritime Cable Car is always a fun option for travels to take.
Being the first of its kind, you’re able to travel between Dolsan Island and the mainland via cable car. As you look outside, you’ll witness a beautiful aerial view of your surroundings and the deep blue ocean twinkling just below. After getting over the immediate thrills, you’ll certainly be comforted by the beautiful sights it provides.
Dolsan Park
Once you make your way to Dolsan Island, one of the most natural things to do is to visit Dolsan Park.
Spanning over 287,000 square meters, the park is home to a teahouse, beautiful viewpoints, and the Memorial Time Capsule set to be opened in 2094. If you go towards the day’s end, you’ll be greeted by a spectacular sunset and stay long enough to enjoy the breathtaking night views.
Hyangiram Hermitage
If the aim of your trip is for spiritual healing and comfort, make your way to Hyangiram Hermitage.
Located up in the mountains, hiking up to the hermitage’s location might prove to be difficult, but will be so worth it. Not only will you get to witness a beautiful view, but the entire experience will provide much-needed healing right down to your soul. You can make it either a solo pilgrimage, or a journey with some like-minded friends.
Yeosu Ocean Railbike
Combine both scenic views with a leisure stroll via the Yeosu Ocean Railbike.
If you’re with a group of friends, Yeosu’s Ocean Railbike course is a must visit. It goes at a leisurely pace so you can fully take in all the beauty the ocean view has to offer. You can take multiple photographs and videos throughout the whole experience, while creating unforgettable memories with your friends around you.
Dolsan Restaurant
After all the activities, you’ll definitely have worked up an appetite. With that in mind, make your way down to Dolsan Restaurant.
Being so close to the ocean, seafood is abundant in the port city. The main selling points of their menu includes spicy raw seodaefish and galchi jorim (spicy braised beltfish). Choose one or both and your taste buds will be screaming in joy from the first taste.
Where will you be traveling to in the port city of Yeosu?
