Lollapalooza Chicago Announces 2024 Lineup
Lollapalooza Chicago is back, and with an impressive lineup for this year’s festival. Taking place from August 1st through 4th at the Grant Park in Chicago, the festival will feature a star-studded lineup including K-Pop acts Stray Kids, VCHA, and IVE.
Stray Kids previously headlined Lollapalooza Paris last year, making this the group’s second time headlining the world-famous festival. Stray Kids debuted in January 2018 with the song “District 9,” though the group was already known pre-debut due to their survival show. The group consists of leader and member of producing unit 3RACHA Bang Chan, vocalist and main dancer Lee Know (who used to be a professional dancer that toured with groups such as BTS), rapper and fellow 3RACHA member Changbin, vocalist, dancer, and “Versace Prince” Hyunjin, final 3RACHA producing member and rapper Han, iconic deep-voiced rapper Felix, vocalist and former baseball player Seungmin (who recently threw the first pitch at the MLB World Tour Seoul Series last month), and youngest member and vocalist I.N. Since then, they’ve become one of K-Pop’s most popular active boy groups, performing on global stages, winning awards, and setting records for their company, JYP Entertainment. Most recently, the group released their eighth EP, Rock-Star, in November 2023, with title song “Lalalala.”
VCHA is another group under JYP Entertainment, also debuting through a survival show, A2K. VCHA is designed to be JYP’s American K-Pop group, with Lexi being Hmong-American, Camila being Cuban-American, Kendall being Vietnamese-American, Savanna being Venezuelan-Trinbagonian-American, KG being American, and Kaylee being Korean-American. The group debuted just this year in January, with their song “Girls of the Year,” and recently joined labelmates TWICE as the opening act on their Ready To Be tour.
Consisting of members Gaeul, Leeseo, Liz, Rei, Wonyoung, and Yujin, IVE debuted in 2021 with the song “ELEVEN.” Their first release earned them the Rookie of the Year award at the Genie Music Awards, Hanteo Music Awards, and MAMA that same year, setting the tone for their career to come. The Starship Entertainment girl group has seen major commercial success, as each single topped the charts and trended online worldwide. Last year, the group released their first full album, I’ve IVE, which sold more than one million copies in the first week alone. The first two stops of their world tour in Seoul sold out within five minutes, and they just recently wrapped up their first U.S. tour.
Stray Kids will be headlining the show on Friday, August 2nd. VCHA will also be performing on Friday, August 2nd. IVE will be performing on Saturday, August 3rd.
