A section in HYBE’s “internal document” had some crass comments about ZEROBASEONE’s visuals.
Did CJENM, behind the Mnet Plus K-Pop fan community app, take a jab at HYBE‘s internal document referring to ZEROBASEONE as “ugly?” Fans on the app 100% believe so.
On October 24, 2024 (KST), HYBE COO and Belift Lab CEO Kim Tae Ho attended an audit with the National Assembly, during which the now-infamous “internal document” was revealed. The document, titled the “Weekly Music Industry Report,” was said to be “laden with crass expressions used to describe idols,” according to National Assembly member Min Hyung Bae, who led the session.

In the document, one section on WAKE ONE‘s ZEROBASEONE uses a specific phrase to point out their visuals—a “synergy of ugliness,” in HYBE’s opinion. While the names had been redacted, K-Pop fans quickly matched the section to ZEROBASEONE, given the group’s recent appearances on both shows mentioned.
As a whole group, they’re scheduled to appear on Amazing Saturday. They have two episodes on K Star Next Door, one of which has already been released. When the members are grouped together, they create this synergy of ugliness that is hard to stand…

After the document made rounds on the internet, CJENM has taken to the Mnet Plus app to hint at the situation. CJENM posted a link titled, “A Synergy of Handsomeness: Moments of ZEROBASEONE’s Visual Blessings.”
The link is said to take fans to a video of ZEROBASEONE’s fancams, showcasing the members’ breathtaking visuals. Fans believe it to be CJENM’s gentle reminder, in response to the document, that every single member of ZEROBASEONE is actually a stunner!
As of October 29, 2024 (KST), after fierce backlash from around the world, HYBE’s CEO, Lee Jae Sang, has apologized for the contents of the internal document while removing their CCO, who was in charge of the industry reports.
