The news that Dave Grohl had an affair and fathered a secret love child may have come as a shock to many fans this week. However, it maybe shouldn’t have! It turns out the rock icon has a loooong history of cheating on his partners!
Dave has been married twice so far. Instead of being a faithful husband, he stepped out on BOTH marriages! And that’s just the start! The Foo Fighters frontman cheated on a couple of girlfriends in the past, too. Damn. And don’t worry! We broke down what happened for you!

Jordyn Blum
Of course, we have to start with Dave’s latest scandal. For those who don’t know, the singer first met model Jordyn Blum at a whisky bar in Hollywood in 2001 and called her “my future ex-wife.” Well, Dave must be a psychic because that could be coming true soon!
Years after the pair married and welcomed three kids, Violet, Harper, and Ophelia, they could be heading for divorce! Why? The former Nirvana drummer revealed on Tuesday that he not only cheated on Jordyn, but he welcomed a baby girl with the other woman! Dave wrote on Instagram:
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
Awful.
They were married for two decades! He seemed like such a family man at this point! But we guess you can’t change some guys’ ways..
Jennifer Leigh Youngblood
Jordyn wasn’t the first wife he cheated on. Back in 1994, Dave got married to photographer Jennifer Leigh Youngblood. Their marriage did not last long, though. The Pretender artist broke up with her after only two years together, and they finalized their divorce in 1997.
As for what led to the split? You can probably guess. He cheated. The Guardian reported that Dave admitted infidelity on his part led to the divorce in 1999. He said at the time:
“I was 25, my wife was even younger. We weren’t ready to get married. I miss her a ton, she’s the funniest goddamn weirdo you ever met in your life.”
Well, you probably should not have cheated on her. Then, you may not have to miss her so much. Just saying!
BTW, that affair cost him more than a wife — it cost him a bandmate, too! Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear was a good friend of Jennifer’s and reportedly quit the band in disgust for a while. They eventually reconciled.
Louise Post
And there’s more infidelity from Dave from there! Following the end of his marriage to Jennifer, Dave was in a relationship with Veruca Salt singer and guitarist Louise Post. Well, we say “following.” There was almost certainly some overlap. We do know they began dating in 1996 and broke up in 1997.
It was just a few months but apparently a really deep connection. Grohl reportedly wrote the love song Everlong about her. If you listen close you can even hear her vocals at about the 2:00 minute mark.
But dating The Seether wasn’t enough for Dave to keep it in his pants.
However, he was not just dating the musician! He was also with Winona Ryder! The actress was seen out with him several times, including backstage at one of his Foo Fighters concerts at the time. During a show in Melbourne some time later, Louise infamously accused Dave of cheating on her with the Beetlejuice star. Whoa! She then further accused Dave of ditching her for Winona in the 2000 track Disconnected, singing:
“It’s kind of scary when your lover leaves you for a movie star / But I’m still in the dark / But you have trained to watch my back and drop my standards / And you have shamed me since the first time you were with her /And you can’t make me love your band or buy your records / Cause you have tainted my respect for your adventures”
Yeah, nothing cryptic about that lyric! It was definitely about Winona and Dave’s scandalous relationship! However, the 56-year-old indie rocker has never confirmed it. She did tell the Sydney Morning Herald that whatever beef she had with Dave was over and their “friends” now:
“People definitely read things into my songs. In interviews, any mention of him pisses me off. It was a private relationship, but it got so much publicity. I didn’t mean for it to happen. I’m friends with him now.”
Hmm.
Tina Basich
Following that messy love triangle, Dave moved on to snowboarder Tina Basich. They dated for two years, starting in 1998. When the relationship came to an end, it was not on good terms — all because he cheated… AGAIN!
The athlete claimed in her 2003 memoir Pretty Good for a Girl: The Autobiography of a Snowboarding Pioneer that Dave saw multiple women during their romance. She said he was “busy” while they dated and his career caused tension in the relationship a lot, as they couldn’t date like a normal couple. And, of course, there was the fact that he had multiple girlfriends — not just her:
“I don’t know how anyone in his profession can have a normal relationship with a girlfriend … or two, as it turned out. I found out secondhand, through the grapevine, when it seemed like everyone else in the world knew about it but me.”
While Tina tried to get Dave to share the details of what happened, he said “nothing” and broke up with her instead:
“All I got was a five-minute phone call from him, after five weeks of me calling and trying to get ahold of him because I just had to know if these rumors were true and had to hear it straight from the source.”
Damn… That sucks!
As you can see, Dave has had his fair share of cheating scandals! And those are only the ones we know of at this time! We would not be surprised if more stories came out given his history. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments!
