“You can see she’s so uncomfortable…”
Korean comedian, actor, and YouTuber Moon Sang Hoon (known for cameo roles in shows like Extraordinary Attorney Woo) has been hit with criticism for cultural appropriation in an exchange with aespa‘s Giselle.
Recently, Giselle and Karina appeared on Moon Sang Hoon’s YouTube channel, and there was a scenario of a school setting and being teachers.
At one point, Karina left, leaving Giselle and Sang Hoon together to continue the skit.
During the video, Giselle flaunted her multi-lingual skills by showing suddenly switching from Korean to Japanese…
Before suddenly switching to fluent English.
Moon Sang Hoon then switched to English, using phrases that quickly sparked anger among fans.
Most fans couldn’t help but praise Giselle for her language skills.

However, many netizens hit back at Moon Sang Hoon for his response because he had a “Blaccent” (Imitating the ways Black people speak) throughout.
Fans shared their anger at how normalized this kind of thing seems to be and how the actor switched to the accent immediately when it came to speaking English. Others also pointed out how Giselle didn’t respond and even seemed uncomfortable with the interaction.
his immediate blaccent when speaking English is killing me 💀 https://t.co/RQRdkAGfQ0

south korea’s obsession with african american culture needs to be studied. they take as they please but at the same time won’t hesitate to look down on any person of color. what’s worse is that it’s normalized to the point that they won’t find any fault in this video. https://t.co/QW7fY7gVnC
