Mnet’s “2024 MAMAs” Male Idol Collaboration Announcement Hit With Major Criticism

The criticism is aimed at Mnet about its treatment of K-Bands.

K-Pop is very diverse. Among an array of talented idols, there are also huge K-Pop bands that are showcasing their own style of music, including the likes of DAY6, N.Flying, CNBLUEONEWE, LUCY, XdinaryHeroes, and many more.

Yet, a recent announcement about the 2024 MAMA Awards has sparked anger, especially among netizens who are fans of K-bands. It was recently revealed that members of K-pop groups ENHYPEN, TXT, and ZEROBASEONE would have a special “band” collaboration stage where they would come together to play instruments.

The tweet with the announcement was shared on X by an updated account.

While fans were excited to see a collaboration of the three groups, many netizens were furious that “real” K-Bands were being overlooked and ignored but Mnet was willing to let normal idols do a “band” collaboration as there has been a rise in the popularity.

Yet, while fans were showcasing their anger towards MAMAs and Mnet, some fans found it inappropriate that netizens were sharing anger under an ENHYPEN fanpage post that updates fans.

Some fans did share anger on Mnet’s tweet, yet the OG post shared on October 29 from the account didn’t specify that it was a “band” collaboration.

The criticism was not aimed at ENHYPEN or the fan account, but netizens are sharing anger towards Mnet and their treatment of bands.
