“I think the incels in their communities are embarrassed by how much ILLIT flopped…”
Netizens are claiming ILLIT is a flop.
On October 23, a post titled “ILLIT Really Flopped F*cking Hard” went viral. The post gained over 20K views in less than 2 hours.
In the post, the author reveals that ILLIT’s latest song “Cherish” charted 71 on domestic charts for one day before disappearing.
The author then shared that while aespa’s “Whiplash” charted 82 (as of writing post) on the Japanese charts, ILLIT didn’t chart in the top 200.
The netizen then showed how ILLIT failed to chart on Spotify in any country and that it failed to achieve any success in China either.
The author then writes that HYBE should stop introducing ILLIT as the number one fifth-generation artist.
HYBE PR should obviously stop introducing ILLIT as the One-Top Fifth-Generation Group, right? The hypocrisy would be hilarious if you change the introduction of one group (NewJeans) because they didn’t blow up in Japan but claim another group is the top group despite their poor record sales. Forget about the feud with Min Hee Jin, HYBE you once claimed that you needed to set the facts straight. So please set the facts straight! I’ll wait!

Netizens reacted to the post, with many criticizing HYBE.
- “Is there such a thing as a top group that fails to chart? Also, fourth-generation groups like aespa, IVE, and NewJeans are still killing it. Who said we are in the fifth generation?”
- “Real ‘One-Top’ groups don’t need to write that in their albums. LOL. Their self-awareness is horrendous.”
- “ILLIT was made by someone who couldn’t have produced an album if it wasn’t for Min Hee Jin. It’s hilarious that they thought they would do well after being exposed for their plagiarism. HYBE must have been brain-dead if they thought that they could succeed in the ever-changing entertainment industry with game developers that flopped.”
- “I think the incels in their communities are embarrassed by how much ILLIT flopped and so are now targeting aespa. Rather than focus on aespa’s record in Thailand, they should focus on how ILLIT failed to chart on all countries.”
- “At this point they really are psychos. That’s why karma hit ILLIT so hard.
