French VFX Company The Yard Opens New Studio In London

French company The Yard VFX, whose credits include The Rings of Power – Season 2Halo – Season 2, All The Light We Cannot SeeIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and John Wick: Chapter 4 – is expanding its operations beyond Paris to open a new studio in London.

The VFX firm said the new facility would serve as a strategic extension of The Yard’s operations, fostering closer collaboration with UK-based production companies, filmmakers, and agencies.

Founded in Paris in 2014, the studio has collaborated with a roster of major film studios, production companies, and streaming platforms worldwide over the past decade.

Recent accolades for its work include Best Visual Effects at the 2023 edition of France’s prestigious Cesar awards for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Notre Dame on Fire, and it was also recently nominated at the 2024 Emmy Awards for its work on Netflix’s All The Light We Cannot See.

“London is a dynamic hub for the global creative industry, and we are thrilled to bring our French flair and global experience to this exciting market,” said The Yard Founder and Senior VFX Supervisor Laurens Ehrmann. “We aim to combine the best of French artistry with the incredible talent and vibrant creative scene of the UK.”

He added that the expansion would enhance the studio’s ability to serve its international clients while forging new partnerships in one of the world’s most prominent centers for film and television production.

“We see this expansion as a natural progression in our journey,” said Ehrmann. “Our vision is to create a bridge between Paris and London, leveraging our international expertise with local insights to deliver groundbreaking visual effects. Our strategy has always been to expand where there is a wealth of talent, and the UK has long proven its appeal to creative professionals, including many French artists.”

The move into London will also mean The Yard will be able to offer its international clients the opportunity to benefit from the UK’s  film and TV tax relief programs.

“Our London studio will empower international clients to achieve the highest quality visual effects while maximizing the UK’s competitive tax incentives,” Ehrmann explained.

“As we have done in France, we will provide a seamless, high-standard service that combines creative excellence with financial efficiency, making London the ideal base for our next chapter.”
