When idols are removed from their groups, circumstances are usually less than ideal but give a sense of finality that makes sense to fans. Some disbandments are the same, while others leave fans and idols wondering what is happening.
In 2019, a member of the girl group Gugudan experienced getting unexpectedly removed from the group.
Gugudan was one of the several groups created post-I.O.I and included members Sejeong and Mina. The group debuted in June 2016 as JellyFish Entertainment‘s first girl group and saw great success.
However, as it is now known, the group would officially disband in 2020 following two years of no activities.
In 2020, ex-member Sally (also known as Liu Xiening) appeared on Produce Camp 2020, when she made a shocking claim about her status with the group. During an interview, Sally revealed that she and the other members were told to leave their dorm in early 2019, with JellyFish allegedly telling her that she did not need to return.
At the beginning of 2019, my agency told me to go back home. When I asked them when I should come back, they told me there was no need to come back.

Luckily, Sally placed 6th on the survival program and debuted as a member of Bon Bon Girls 303.
Bon Bon Girls 303 was promoted for two years before disbanding in June 2022. Sally transitioned to acting beforehand, earning her first lead role in the web drama Night of Love With You in March 2022. In February 2023, it was announced that she had finally left JellyFish Entertainment.
Since then, she has continued acting and even released a compilation album, returning to her singer roots. Her most recent project, The Double, is currently airing and has been regarded as one of the most popular series of the year on the Youku platform.
