Accusations Of Plagiarism Involving SEVENTEEN And TXT Expose An “Issue” With HYBE


Netizens have pointed out the similarities.

Recently, fans were overjoyed to learn that SEVENTEEN‘s Jeonghan and Wonwoo would release an album together.

This Man is the first album from this unit and is scheduled to drop on June 17. In the meantime, official teaser images have been released showing a range of concepts with different “titles.”

However, with the release of the concept “A MIDSUMMER’S NIGHT,” some netizens had adverse reactions. These images are softer than the previous ones, showing the two idols with blond hair in a green and floral landscape.

Some found these to resemble TXT‘s “Light” concept teasers from their minisode 3: TOMORROW album, released in April.

This led to allegations of plagiarism towards Pledis Entertainment as TXT was also found to have done concepts like this in 2021.

However, fans of SEVENTEEN defended the subunit, pointing out that the group had done concepts like this in 2018 for the release of An Ode, before TXT’s debut.

At the same time, some netizens pointed out that the issue was more so related to an issue within in HYBE.

Many netizens blamed the company for producing similar concepts in a short frame of time, accusing the company of “recycling” concepts.
